During the late 80’s a group of young men from Hatchet Bay who gathered each Saturday at each others homes, decided to consolidate their energies by forming an Association known as the Hatchet Bay Development Association.
Out of this was formed the Hatchet Bay Festival Committee in 1990, for the sole purpose of showcasing the many talents which existed in the community and as a means to draw Baymen back to Hatchet Bay to contribute to the community.
During these early days, residents who were business owners pooled their resources, with minimal help from the Government, to display their beloved Hatchet Bay.
